Elizabeth Jane Macdonald

Mrs. Elizabeth J. MacDonald (Betty) passed away at Newport Hospital on Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She fought a brave long fight with her disease. She was born in Newport, RI on November 22, 1937. She was the wife of Evan A. MacDonald for 55 years. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters behind, Karen Phillips of Portsmouth, Denise and Sean Sullivan of Middletown, a sister Barbara Renick of Portsmouth, five grandchildren: Shane Sullivan, Kevan and Jessica Sullivan and Mia and Olivia Phillips.Elizabeth worked at the Old Almy House, Transcom Electronic, and retired from John Clarke Nursing Center after 18 years. She was very involved in raising her five grandchildren. She always loved to help whenever needed. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandparent and friend.She was a communicant of Jesus Savior Church and her faith was evident in her loving support to her friends and family whenever needed. She touched every soul with her unconditional love.A funeral service will be held Wednesday October 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Jesus Savior Church, 509 Broadway Newport, R.I.A graveside service will be held Friday October 5, 2018 at 9:30 AM in the chapel of St. Columba Cemetery, in Middletown, RI.Calling hours are respectfully omitted.Donations in her memory may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.Additional information at www.memorialfuneralhome.com
