Elizabeth Munro

March 12, 1954 — October 29, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Munro, who left us on October 29, 2025, at the age of 71. Elizabeth dedicated her life to serving others as a Case Manager for the Public Defenders Office for 25 years, becoming a steadfast advocate and voice for her clients.

The daughter of Gilbert and Ann Sousa, Elizabeth (Beth) was born on March 12, 1954 in Providence, Rhode Island. She was a proud graduate of the class of 1971 at Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She received her Bachelor's from Rhode Island College in 1975. Elizabeth also received secretarial training and graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in Providence, Rhode Island.

Elizabeth was extremely passionate about her work for the Public Defenders. She was the organizational guru that made the appellate division run smoothly and efficiently. Their clients appreciated her unfailing patience, kindness, and compassion. She was kind, thoughtful, welcoming, empathetic, embracing, and uplifting-"the most popular kid on the cell block." There are countless many who benefited from her advocacy and it is because of her that they felt they were worthy and wanted.

Elizabeth's passion for justice was only matched by her love for her family and friends. She is remembered as a kind, giving, and loyal individual who radiated love and support to all around her. A devoted mother, she leaves behind her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin Munro and Leah Neverka and cherished son, Joshua Munro. She is survived by her nephews Nick, Greg, and Gill Modelski, niece Nina Modelski, and her dear aunt, Ann-Marie Zaino. Elizabeth is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Olivia and Benjamin Neverka-Vinciguerra.

An avid reader and talented knitter, Elizabeth found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending time with her pet cats, and sharing her creativity with those she loved. Married for 33 wonderful years to her husband, Richard (Dick), she exemplified the beauty of partnership and companionship.

In celebration of her extraordinary life, family and friends are invited to join for Visiting Hours on November 14, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at Connors Funeral Home on November 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where memories will be shared, reminding us of the profound impact Elizabeth had on all who knew her. Following this, a Cemetery Committal Service at North Burial Ground in Bristol, RI will take place at 11:30 AM.

As we honor Elizabeth's rich legacy of love and advocacy, let us carry forward her spirit of kindness and generosity. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. In her quiet and unassuming way, she made all our lives better in so many ways.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Munro, her parents, Gilbert and Ann Sousa, her sister, Jane Modelski and brother-in-law Ian Modelski.
