Elliott Marshall

April 16, 1966 — May 20, 2026

Elliott Marshall, 60, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died on May 20, 2026 after a brief illness. Born in Newport, RI on April 16, 1966, He was the son of Elliott and Dora (Bennett) Marshall of Portsmouth.

Elliott grew up knowing that working hard was the way to earn the respect of his family and friends. He never hid from effort, and growing up on a cattle farm required plenty of effort.

He attended Rogers High School in Newport enrolled in the Automotive Technical program. From the farm to this early training, he solidified his love of tractors, equipment, trucks, and especially fast cars. After school he began a new career working on construction equipment. He was grateful to learn under well respected business owners early in his life, such as Dunbar Hall at Aquidneck Construction, as well as Peckham Brothers, and Mello Construction. He also started his own trucking business and operated E. Marshall Trucking for several years. Elliott was an employee of the Town of Middletown for 25 years, working in the Public Works Department. After leaving the Town position, he also helped at DePaul Diesel, and most recently at the Town of Portsmouth. He had tremendous pride in taking a broken down old rusty vehicle and restoring it to full function and beauty. Over the years he fixed up and restored anything with wheels, with a special affinity for the Ford Falcon. His first one was a yellow 1964, and then he found a blue 1961 Falcon. Many hours of sweat have been put into these cars.

Elliott is survived by his wife Cheryl (Souza) Marshall, his parents Elliott and Dora (Bennett) Marshall of Portsmouth, his two sons, Elliott Marshall and his wife Nicole, and Erich Marshall and his wife Haley, all of Tiverton, two grandchildren, Jake and Norah, two step sons Dylan McCoy of Portsmouth and Derek McCoy of Tiverton, a brother John Marshall and his wife Bernadette of Tiverton, and a sister Carrie Thombs and her husband Dan of Westport, MA, two nieces and one nephew.
