Elvira Marie Maxwell

Elvira Avie Marie Maxwell, 81, of Middletown, RI, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 17, 2018. Avie was born on November 19, 1936 in Newport, RI to the late Mary (Cardoza) Aleicho and Jose R Aleicho. She was the wife of the late George Dietz Maxwell.Avie was a homemaker and mother of eight. After raising her children in later years, she was employed by Newport Hospital, Aquidneck Lanes and Newport Jai Alai. Avie loved cooking and entertaining her family and many friends.Avie is survived by her loving children Marilyn and her husband Paul W. Hall, Kathy and her husband William Murphy, Sharon Parker, Edward Bateman, Dawn Hetland and Dena Maxwell, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Maryrose Brookshire of Portsmouth and Madeline Baker of Middletown.In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her daughters Donna Blythe and Debra Oatway and her siblings Jose Aleicho, Delores Ferreira and John Aleicho.Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI 02840.A Mass of Christian Burial will he held Friday October 19, 2018 in Jesus Saviour Church 1 Vernon Avenue Newport, RI 02840 at 9:30 AM.Burial to follow in Newport Memorial Park.Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society P.O.
