Ernest C. Larsen

Ernest C. Larsen, age 74, of Middletown died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL, while on vacation.Mr. Larsen was born March 27, 1942 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Ernest P. and the late Anastasia (Sherman) Larsen. Mr. Larsen worked for Newport Electric for 33 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Aquidneck Island All Vets Club, FOPA of Middletown, the Newport Lodge of Elks, the Brotherhood of Utility Workers #335, and the Newport Sportsman Club. Ernest loved bocce and woodworking.He is survived by three daughters: Charlene A. Aukerman of Knoxville, TN, Shirley A. Echevarria of Middletown, RI and Michelle A. Catalan of Middletown, RI,; his sister: Elizabeth M. Pinto of Middletown, RI, his step son, Bryan P. Sullivan of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren, Antonio Echevarria, Jamie Catalan, Alex Aukerman, and Hayden Aukerman, his great grandchildren, Kayden and Annabella Echevarria, and his loving companion, Mary Connor.He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. Larsen, and his step daughter, Stacey L. Ferguson.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 9-11am, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held immediately after calling hours at 11am in the funeral home.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, 123 Howland Avenue, Middletown.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert Potter League For Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
