Evelyn M. (Mello) Jessey, 86, of Oakwood Road, Middletown, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 10, 2016.She was the wife of the late John J. Jessey.Born in Newport, RI on May 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Hilda M. (DeCosta) Mello. Evelyn was first and foremost the adoring wife of her high school sweetheart John who predeceased her 7 years ago after nearly 60 years of marriage. In retirement with him, she spent the summer and fall trekking to country fairs in the Northeast then, with their lifelong Newport friends and fellow RV owners, to Kissimmee, Florida during the winter. She deeply touched everyone with whom she interacted. From the time of the birth of her first child to the time of her death she remained a tireless, active cheerleader to all her 16 descendants plus their friends and families to whom she dedicated endless energy, intellect and wit. She had a rollicking sense of humor that often kept us all in stitches. She was an accomplished and effortless cook and relished a well-prepared, well-presented, and tasty meal that she could share with all those around her. Earlier, she enjoyed a deeply rewarding career as Account Manager at the Rhode Island Hospital Trust National bank beginning as a Teller and rising to Personal Banker propelled by her uniquely successful approach the results of which were regularly recognized by both company and customers. More recently, Evelyn was extremely grateful for the unwavering weekly visits she received from her generous and loving cousin Helen. Her family would also like to acknowledge the effective care of her hospice nurse Suzanne, and the tender, sensitive, unparalleled attention of her night nurse, Rosie, whom she called her "Angel." She is survived by her children, John J. Jessey, Jr. and his wife, Susan M. Ferla, of Stamford, CT, Donna M. Jessey of Middletown, RI, Paul A. Jessey and his wife, Karen C.
