Evelyn B. Pine, 77, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, died on June 14, 2025 at Charlton Hospital. She was the wife of the late SSG, Fred Joseph Pine, US Army Veteran and Bronze Star recipient. Born in Newport, RI on March 19, 1948, She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Souza) Semas.
Evelyn grew up in Middletown and began work as a young woman at the Swan Cleaners on Aquidneck Ave. She later found work as a seamstress at the Melville Marina where she applied her skills on sails and boat canvas. Throughout her life, she enjoyed making ceramics in her free time, often selling items at fairs and bazaars. She loved going to all the church festivals, fairs, and events across the island, from St. Barnabas to Jesus Saviour. Evelyn was also deeply connected to the local Native Americans and their history, she often attended local ceremonies. She was a longtime member of the Little Compton Grange and frequently joined her husband at Tiverton VFW functions.
Evelyn is survived by her children Russell Sharp of Fall River, MA, Robert Sharp of Williamsburg, IN, Susan Sharp of New Bedford, MA, Leonard Sharp of Tacoma, WA, Thomas Sharp of Fall River, MA, her step son Fred Pine Jr. of Ohio, 12 grandchildren, and many Great-Grandchildren.
Evelyn is preceded in death by a son Lester Miller; a brother Joseph J. Semas, III, and her beloved husband Fred Pine, and her parents.
A burial service will be held on Monday, June 23 at 11:00am at the Newport Memorial Park, 123 Howland Ave, Middletown, RI.
