Florence H. "Floss" Lee

Florence H. "Floss" Lee, age 95, of Newport died Friday, January 5, 2018, at Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown, RI. Mrs. Lee was born November 25, 1922, in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Charles and the late Emma (Ramsden) Harrison. She was the wife of the late Henry Sherman Lee for over 45 years.After raising a family "Floss" began her career working for the Draft Board, but eventually became a Media Assistant in the Newport Public Schools, first with the Thompson Middle School, and then for over 20 years at Rogers High School. In her spare time, she was an avid and gifted seamstress, who often made clothes for herself and many others.She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lee Richardson and her husband Jack Richardson, and Cynthia Ann Lee and her husband Jim Higgins, one son, Robert P. Lee, her grandchildren, Jay Richardson and Lee Richardson, and her great grandchildren, Connor and Paige Richardson. She was predeceased by her sister, Ada Sweeney, and after her death, "Floss" enjoyed a very loving and caring relationship with Ada's children, her nephews, Wayne H. Sweeney (dec.), and Col. Bronson W. Sweeney, USMC (Ret).Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 10:00am-11:00am, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am in the funeral home.A private burial will be in the Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.The family would like to thank the staff of the Grand Islander Health Care Center for their excellent and loving care.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
