IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances L
Benevides
June 14, 1944 – February 10, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frances L. Benevides, who left us peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on June 14, 1944, in Newport, Rhode Island, Frances lived a life filled with warmth, love, and dedication to her family and community.
As a proud graduate of Rogers High School, Frances was not only respected for her professional accomplishments, but cherished for her unwavering commitment to her family. Perhaps her most treasured titles were those of Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She took great joy in being a stay-at-home mother and grandmother, ensuring that everyone around her had what they needed, while always making their lives a little brighter.
Frances found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed making ceramics and other forms of art, such as painting and knitting afghans. She loved spending time at the beach, where she would indulge in her favorite seafood, especially the lobster rolls at First Beach. Her fondness for the color turquoise mirrored her vibrant spirit. She loved solving word searches during her downtime, usually accompanied by her beloved and ever-present yellow post-it notes-a symbol of her organized and caring nature.
Frances is survived by her son, Robert Benevides; her brothers, Manuel, Anthony, and Michael Simas; cherished grandchildren, Cynthia Hampton, Amanda Benevides, and Brandon Benevides; four great grandchildren, T.J., Brayden, Skylee, and Beau, with another soon on the way; as well as a host of other family and friends who were fortunate to know her kindness and laughter.
In accordance with Frances's wishes, all funeral and burial arrangements will be private.
As we remember Frances, let us celebrate the joy she brought to our lives and the love she so freely gave. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
Frances was preceded in death by: Robert Benevides, Manuel Simas, Mary Simas, Deborah (Debbe) Kirchner, Henry Simas, James Simas, and Hannah Skye Wertens.
