Francis Aguiar Jr

Francis E. Aguiar, Jr., age 66, of Newport died peacefully at home Friday, February 23, 2018. Frank was born April 11, 1951 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Francis E. and the late Shirley (Frazier) Cochran. Frank graduated from Rogers High School. He spent most of his life as a master finish carpenter who enjoyed working on restoration projects in Newport and also worked as handyman who could fix just about anything. In his early years, he was the owner of Pat's Diner and later became part owner of the Colonial Tavern. He was an avid dart and billiard player. He also sang and played instruments in local bands and was a beloved member of the local community. He is survived by two daughters: Sara And Her Husband Kyle Sullivan of North Kingstown, RI and Kimberly L. Aguiar of Newport, RI, and three sons: Francis E. Aguiar III of Auburn, WA, Jeremy Aguiar of Virginia Beach, VA and Brian Aguiar of Jamestown, RI,; Brother of three sisters: Marion Aguiar of Newport, RI; Shirley Araujo of Newport, RI; the late Susan Stroup of Newport, RI, and two brothers: Roger Aguiar of Virgina Beach, VA and James Aguiar of Bartletsville, OK. He also has eight grandchildren; Grandchildren, Taylor And Richard Aguiar of Auburn, WA; Grandchildren, Hazel, Cash Casey Sullivan and Noah Shea of North Kingstown, RI; Grandchildren, Marley And Riley Dupre of Newport, RI. Calling hours will be Friday, March 2 from 3:00-6:00 at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
