Francis Joseph Nunes, 81 of 208 Howland Ave, Middletown RI, was called to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol RI. He was the husband of Alberta C (Borek) Nunes.Francis was born February 12, 1935 in his house in Middletown RI, a son of the late Octavio Salvadore and Rose (Dutra) Nunes.He was the former owner of Howland Farm. Farming brought great joy to his world, especially when he was driving his tractors and watching the spring's new calves. Francis was always quick with a smile and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.He worked as the Service Manager for Chaves Oil and then Buckley. It was well known that Francis was an excellent mechanic, and was sought after by many other oil companies because of his aptitude to fix problems that no else was able to solve.Besides his devoted wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children, Kathleen C Nunes, William F Nunes, Kimberly C Nunes, her husband Scott Roth, all of Bristol RI; his sister Laura Murphy of Middletown RI, and his grandsons, Zachary W Gustafson and Jeremy R Gustafson, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.Mr. Nunes was the brother of the late Mary A Jacome, John J Nunes, and Rose A Makeover.Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours are Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 4:00-7:00pm, at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth RI.
