Francisco C. Santo, 73, of Middletown, RI, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.He was the husband of Hilda (Souto) Santo for 49 years.Frank was born in Cedros, Fayal, the Azores son of the late Jose E. and Maria C. (Rosa) Santo.He came to America in 1961. He owned and operated Frank Santo General Landscaping for 35 years retiring in 2010. Frank had worked as a barber for Vinny's Barbershop in Newport and in his retirement, he was known as the "Bike Guy" restoring and selling old bicycles.Frank was an active member in Jesus Saviour Community having served on the parish council, being a member of the Holy Name Society, the Portuguese Choir, a lector at the Portuguese Mass and the Knights of Columbus. He made the rosary that has hung on the front of Jesus Saviour Church for years.Frank was a man who loved his family, besides his wife Hilda, he is survived by his sons, Frank Santo, Jr. and his wife Sherri of Cranston, RI, and Michael Santo and his wife Kristine of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren, Ava Santo, Gianni Santo, Lucas Santo, Bryce Santo and Blake Santo, his brother Jose Santo and his wife Maria-Olivia of Freemont, CA, his sister Maria Correia of Taunton, MA and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Lucia Escobar.Calling hours will be Sunday, November 13 from 3-7pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.His funeral will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016, at 9am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway, Newport.Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Jesus Savior Church, St. Vincent dePaul, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.
