Newport, RI - Frank S. Matose, 85, of 94 Eustis Avenue, Newport, RI, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at home. Born in Providence, RI on May 24, 1918, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Rose Furtado Matose. He was the husband of Barbara W. Flynne of Newport, RI. Mr. Matose was in the United States Army, during World War II. He was an Electrician in the Newport area until his retirement. Mr. Matose had his pilot?s license and at one time his own plane. He loved to build model airplanes. Besides his wife he is survived by his stepdaughter Katherine P. Roberts of Derby, CT, his sister Helen Goncalo of Portsmouth, RI, two nephews Joseph S. Matose IV and Robert Matose both of Middletown, RI, his niece Helen Steeves of Portsmouth, RI, and two grandnephews.He was the brother of the late Joseph Matose III and Mary Corey. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2003, at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Island Cemetery in Newport.
