Frank Souza

Portsmouth, RI - Frank Souza, 96, of Portsmouth, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Mary (Couto) Souza who died this past May. Born in Newport, RI on October 24, 1917, he was the son of the late Antonio Souza and Rose (Ribeira) Souza. Frank retired from a 19 year career with the US Navy where he served during WWII in the Pacific Theater and during Korea. After his active military duty, he worked for the Newport Naval Station Fire Department for 20 years as a Fire Protection Inspector. Frank was a dedicated parishioner at St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth.He is survived by several nieces and nephews and friends. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 8:30-9:30am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery in Little Compton.
