Frederick Allen Arruda, a beloved family man and esteemed community member, passed away on February 17, 2026. He was born on February 5, 1956, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and joy, surrounded by the family that meant everything to him.
Fred will be remembered as a devoted husband to his wife, Maureen, a proud father to Amy and Kaitlyn, and loving grandfather to Sutton. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, bringing boundless light and warmth to his life. He delighted in creating lasting memories with them, whether it was through camping trips in New Hampshire or simply working in the yard, where you could often find him mowing the grass with a smile. Fred had a faithful companion in his dog, Pongo, and cherished the time spent with his granddog, Callie. Fred will be deeply missed by his siblings (Frank, Kevin, Darlene and Kathy), as well as countless beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A passionate sports fan, Fred held a special place in his heart for all Boston sports teams, except for the Patriots, as he was a die-hard Los Angeles Rams fan at heart. Fred was the ultimate joke teller and could always make you laugh even on a bad day.
Professionally, Fred was dedicated to his role as a driver for the James Maher Center, where he utilized his skills in transportation to serve others with compassion and care.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, February 26, at Connors Funeral Home on 55 West Main Road in Portsmouth, RI, from 4-7pm. A funeral service will take place in the same location on Friday, February 27 at 10am. Burial will follow at Middletown Four Corners Cemetery.
Fred will be deeply missed but will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him. His vibrant spirit and unwavering love for his family will be celebrated for years to come.
