Newport, RI - Georgianna Holt (Dawley) Faerber, RN, of Mann Avenue, Newport, a lifelong Newporter, passed away January 1, 2018. Born on February 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Marion and William Samuel Holt Dawley. She was the wife for 48 years of the late Eugene "Jeeps" P. Faerber who died on December 27, 1993.A Mayflower descendent, Mrs. Faerber was a Rogers High School graduate, Class of 1941, and a graduate of Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing in Fall River, Class of 1945. She was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps and worked as an anesthetist at Truesdale Hospital in Fall River for many years. She was a lifelong active member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, where she was one of the first women vestry members, superintendent of the Sunday School, President of the Church Womens Group and Chairwoman of the Summer Fair. Mrs. Faerber was active in the leadership and troop leader of the Girl Scouts of America and was also a member of the American Ladies and the Kitchen Keglers ladies bowling leagues. A talented knitter, sewer and baker, she was best known for her pound cake. She was a kind, caring daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, grandma and friend.Mother of Andrew J. Faerber and his wife Joan, Susan J. Kelchner and her husband John, and Paul J. Faerber and his wife Khan, grandmother of Jennifer M. Faerber, Peter J. Faerber, Jr. and his wife Alison, Patrick R. Faerber and his wife Kealan, Kate Faerber O'Neill and her husband Conor, Molly C. Faerber and Lauren M. Faerber, great grandmother of Brodin Peter Faerber, John Patrick Faerber, Mae Winters Faerber and Ronan Patrick O'Neill, daughters-in law Mary Faerber and Liza Faerber, sister of Barbara Feiner Gallipeau, and many nieces and nephews.She was the mother of the late Peter J. Faerber, Sr., and sister of the late William S. H. Dawley, Jr. Georgianna's family is grateful for and greatly appreciates the love and care which she received at the Grand Islander Nursing Home. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, from 1:00-4:00pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 11:00am, in St. John the Evangelist, 61 Poplar Street, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested to St. John the Evangelist Church, 58 Washington Street, Newport, RI 02840, or to the Activities Fund, Grand Islander Nursing Home, 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
