Geraldine Marie Paquin, "Mem" a Newport native known for her spirited energy, adventurous heart, and deep love of family, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on November 19, 2024. Born on the Fourth of July in 1941 in Maine, Geraldine brought fireworks and joy to all who knew her, embodying resilience and liveliness from her earliest days. Raised in Newport, Rhode Island, by her loving parents, Leontine and Ambrose Jones, she shared a special bond with her late twin brother, Gerald.
Geraldine attended St. Catherine's School in Newport, where she formed friendships that would last a lifetime. She later dedicated many years to a career with the telephone company, where she was a valued member of the Telephone Pioneers. Her dedication and joyful personality made her a beloved colleague, bringing warmth and laughter to her workplace and making friends everywhere she went.
Known to celebrate life's small pleasures, Geraldine would often proclaim, "That's the best margarita that I ever had!" She truly lived by her favorite motto, "Live life to the fullest; you never know what tomorrow brings." Her love for travel took her around the world, where she embraced new experiences and cultures. Some of her fondest memories were made on family cruises, where she laughed and danced with friends and loved ones, turning each trip into a cherished adventure. She also looked forward to her annual trips with her girlfriends to Marco Island, where they shared stories, soaked up the sun, and created memories full of laughter.
Preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Paquin, Geraldine shared a beautiful life with him, filled with love and laughter. Together, they raised two daughters, Pam Ferris and Paula Blinn.
Geraldine's legacy of love and joy continues through her granddaughters, Jamie Ferris and her partner Brian Ouellette, Jessica Ferris and her grandson Adam Blinn. She found immense joy in her great-grandson, Silas Ouellette-a gentle, caring boy whose warmth and love brought her endless happiness. Silas was a true blessing to Geraldine, filling her life with the same light and joy she gave to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, honoring Geraldine's strength, warmth, and enduring love. Geraldine's joyful spirit, sense of adventure, and love for life will be dearly missed and forever treasured by all who knew her.
