Gillian Conyers (Lowe) Hall entered eternal peace on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at home in Middletown, Rhode Island surrounded by her family.Gillian was born on March 13, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie Lowe in Stamford, Lincolnshire, England and sister of the late John and Robert Lowe. She was married to the late Norman W. Hall for 66 years, who predeceased her in 2012.She graduated from Stamford High School in 1943 and attended Maria Gray College, London until being evacuated during WW II.Jill and Norman were married in Tinwell, Lincolnshire, England on September 4, 1946. She left the only home she knew and came to the United States as a young wife. As her children grew she accepted a position as School Secretary at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School, Middletown, RI. She held this position until retiring in 1985.Jill was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, avid gardener and birdwatcher. Her many volunteer activities included: Middletown Garden Club, (President, 1993-97); Norman Bird Sanctuary; Friends of the Middletown Library, Board Member; Episcopal Church Women, St. Mary's Episcopal Church Portsmouth, RI; Middletown Historical Society, Charter Member; Easton's Point Association, Charter Member; Newport Genealogical Society; Audubon Society of RI and URI Master Gardener.Jill is survived by daughter Gayle and husband John Amos of Fishers, IN; sons Richard and wife Lina Hall of Middletown, RI; Michael and wife Dominique Hall of Townsville, Queensland, Australia; Jeffrey and wife Catherine Hall of North Smithfield, RI; eight grandchildren - Todd, Robyn, Michelle, Erin, Bridget, Robin, Stephen, Peter and two great-grandchildren - Anastasia and Kyle.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10 am at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI with burial in St. Mary's Churchyard.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jill's memory to the Middletown Public Library - 700 W.
