Helen L. Peckham

Middletown, RI - Helen L. Figueiredo Peckham, 82, of 149 Ridgewood Road, Middletown, RI, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 1, 2008. She was the wife of Alfred R. Peckham, Sr. Born in Newport, RI, on June 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Silvia Figueiredo. Mrs. Peckham worked at Grants for five years and then the former General Electric as an inspector for 20 years. She was an avid bowler, lived for Flea Markets, was a member of the Quahog Chapter NACA and traveled from Newport to Florida almost every year. Besides her husband of 61years, she is survived by her children, Kathleen Kitty Costa and her husband Joel of Portsmouth, RI, and Alfred R. Rusty Peckham, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren Amy E. Richard and her husband Armand and Christopher R. Peckham and his wife Erica all of Newport, RI, and her great grandchildren, Nathan Christopher Crowley, Ryker Gray Peckham and Paityn Cassidy Peckham all of Newport, RI, her sister Flora Soares of Middletown, RI, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late John Figueiredo, Joseph Figueiredo, Antonio Figueiredo, Mary Ridle, Beatrice Rockford, Rose Hunter, Nellie Ford and Vena Phillips. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 9:00am, Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown.Calling hours are will be held on Monday, February 4, 2008, from 5-8 in the funeral home.
