Herbert S. Riegel

Herbert S. Riegel, 86, of Middletown, passed away, Sunday, April 22, 2018 in the Grand Islander Health Care Center. He was the devoted husband of the late Eunice (Ripa) Riegel.Born in the Fifth Ward of Newport, he was the son of the late Charles and Maude (Sisson) Riegel.Mr. Riegel was a graduate of Rogers High School. He was a Army Veteran of the Korean War, where he enjoyed traveling to Italy. He worked for many years at the R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority. He and his wife loved Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs and always had one present in their lives. Herb was a Frank Sinatra fan, an avid postage stamp collector and worked on numerous paintings, which he displayed proudly in their home. He was a handyman who displayed a unique sense of style in his lawn decorations and home.Herb leaves his sister-in-law Barbara Ripa, his Sheltie Lassie and several nieces and nephews.
