Irene Marshall, 81, of Portsmouth, passed away on July 17, 2018 at Newport Hospital.
Irene was born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 27, 1937 to the late Michael Finales and the late Maria Francis Finales.
Mrs. Marshall was a very proud and loving Greek Orthodox mother who loved nothing more than taking care of her family and others. She loved to cook, not only for her family, but often the whole neighborhood. A caring and self-sacrificing woman, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Irene is survived by her children, Frank Hehl and his wife Rose, Robert Hehl, Michael Merenstein and his partner David, James Merenstein and his wife Cindy, Thomas Marshall, Lewis Marshall and Maria Marshall. Her siblings, Katherine Ribustelli, Diane Palmer, Susan Friedland and Michael Sammarco. Her grandchildren, Amanda Hehl, Zakary and KeiJa Marshall, Robert and Patrick Burns, Melanie Fitzgerald and Jamie Luczynski. Her great-grandchildren, Julian Marshall, Lily Burns, Caylee and Corey Cunningham, Devin and Ryan Burns, Alyssa McTyre, Logan Terpening, AJ and Savana Fitzgerald, Abby and Oliver Luczynski.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Olga Sammarco and Virginia Scalzo.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 12:00 PM at Newport Memorial Park Chapel. Graveside burial will follow after the service.
