Jack Frederick Appleby

Bristol, RI - Jack Frederick Appleby, 84, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, died on Monday, December 31, 2018, at the St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol.He was the husband of the late Rita Doris (Lafleur) Appleby.Born in Neelyton, PA on March 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Arthur R. and Violet R. (Hellman) Appleby.Mr. Appleby served in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.He is survived by his son, Jack F. Appleby, Jr. of Middletown, RI, his daughter Deborah A. Drake and her husband Paul of Bristol, RI, his granddaughters, Jennifer A. Drake and Amy L. Drake, his brother Harvey Appleby of Maryland, and his sister Nancy Appleby of West Virginia.Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 7th, 2019, from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019, at 9:00am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.Memorial donations are encouraged to one of three charities, the St. Barnabas 2019 Festival Fund, The Robert Potter League for Animals, or the Portsmouth Senior Center. Envelopes and a donation box will be available at the funeral home during the services.
