Jacqueline Flanagan Lydon, 79, of Newport died peacefully Thursday, October 19, 2017 surrounded by members of her family at Village House Nursing Home in Newport. Born in Waterbury, CT, on November 18, 1937, Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen (LeClair) Flanagan, and her sisters, Sr. Dorothy Flanagan, CND, and Anne Flanagan Blackburn.Jackie was a proud resident of Newport for 27 years. She was an incredible mother and loving grandmother and aunt. She worked for the Newport Historical Society for many years and was a voracious reader, especially of American History.She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Anne Lydon of Newport, and three sons, Christopher P. Lydon, (Lisa) of Cumberland, RI, Timothy F. Lydon (Barbara) of Girdwood, Alaska and Daniel P. Lydon of Brattleboro, VT, and her grandchildren Patrick, Sean, Meghan, Odin, and Stella.Jackie's family wishes to offer a special note of gratitude to all of the staff of Village House, who provided daily care and love to her for over six years.The funeral will be held at St. Mary's Church 12 Williams Street, Newport, Rhode Island at 11:00am on Monday, October 23, 2017.
