Portsmouth, RI - James G. Marshall, Sr., 85, of 217 Sprague Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA.He was the husband of the late Theresa Rackowski Marshall. Born in Fall River, MA on March 12, 1924, he was the son of the late John C. and Rosella Healey Marshall.Mr. served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a proud member of the greatest generation. He worked for UMass Dartmouth and Globe Manufacturing as a facility engineer for his entire career. He retired as Chief Engineer for the Campus. Mr. Marshall enjoyed helping at Columban Fathers in Bristol. He is survived by his children, John Marshall of Ashland, NH, James Marshall of Newport, RI, and Anne Marie Kirtland of Portsmouth, RI, his sister Rita Burns of North Carolina, and his grandchildren, Joshua Robert Kirtland, Ashley Kirtland, Ryan Kirtland, Brandon Marshall and Nick Marshall and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late John Marshall, Rosemarie Lahey and Claire.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 10:30am, in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, from 9:30 - 10:30, in the funeral home.
