James Napier Jr, 77, of Portsmouth, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown, after a long illness. James was born April 11, 1940 in Newport, RI, the son of the late James and Jane (Hamilton) Napier. He worked for over 40 years as an automobile mechanic in several area car dealerships, but was known for many years at Bove Chevrolet. James also spent a few years as a young man on the Portsmouth Fire Department. He lived for several years in Florida as well.Locally, he is survived by his brother Hugh Napier Sr. of Portsmouth and his son Mark Napier and his three children.Burial will be private.
