James "Jim" B. Sellar

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James “Jim” B. Sellar on October 10, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on June 20, 1935, in Paisley, Scotland, Jim lived a long and meaningful life and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was married to his beloved wife, Margaret, for an incredible 69 years. Together, they built a life filled with family, laughter, and enduring love. He was a proud father to Yvonne B. Lamb and her late husband Rob of Newport, RI, and Graham B. Sellar and his wife Kara E. Fagan of Middletown, RI and a devoted Papa to Justin M. Sellar and his fiancée Jillian R. Bodreau of Arlington, MA and Haley N. Sellar and boyfriend Ryan C. Slivinski of Newport, RI.

Jim will be remembered for his deep commitment to his family and the steady presence he provided to those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided Jim and his family in his final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, October 17th, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 12 William Street, Newport, Rhode Island. Family and Friends are respectively invited to attend and asked to meet at Church. Burial will private.
