James W. Peckham

James W. Peckham, 82, of Little Creek Lane, Middletown, RI, passed away at home on Monday, February 13, 2017.Born on April 10, 1934 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Philip and Elizabeth (Conley) Peckham, and the brother of the late John Peckham.Mr. Peckham was a graduate of Rogers High School. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Peckham worked as a firefighter with the Middletown Fire Department for over 25 years before retiring. A lifelong farmer, he enjoyed raising Hereford cows. He was also an avid Red Sox fan. He is survived by his three children, Philip Peckham and his wife, Maria, of Easton, MA, Andrew Peckham of Middletown, RI, and Marlene Shaw of Portsmouth, RI; his four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Madeline and James Peckham, and Lauren Shaw; his sister, Lenice Harrington of Portsmouth, RI; his niece, Cynthia Peckaham of Middletown, RI; his nephew, John Peckham and his wife, Betsy, of Middletown, RI, along with their children, Julia, Orin and Hollis Peckham.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Hambly "Brick House", 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.Funeral services and burial are private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Middletown Rescue Association, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
