Born September 14, 1932, in St. Albans, Vermont, Janet passed away in Rhode Island on March 20, 2026. She was the eldest of six children born to Raymond and Doris Audette and spent much of her early life in Manchester, Connecticut.

Janet earned her nursing degree from St. Raphael's in 1954 and went on to work in nursing homes. She took her work to heart and was deeply affected by those in her care, reflecting a life rooted in devotion, both to her faith and to those she served.

She was married to Walter Raymond Wolk for 46 years, with whom she raised four children: Walter Joseph "Wally" Wolk, Jennifer Marie Wolk Norton, Thomas Raymond Wolk, and Andrew Michael Wolk Days. Janet created a home centered on family. She made dinner and time together a nightly priority, bringing everyone to the table and making that time matter.

In her later years, Janet found companionship and love with Charlie Bodemann. Together they built a life and eventually settled in Rhode Island.

Janet was an accomplished artist, specializing in early American folk painting, often working with gold leaf on trays, metal, and velvet. She was also a skilled cook and baker, known for her delicious homemade breads, desserts, and meals. She wrote and published a cookbook that sold locally in Glastonbury, Connecticut, where the family lived for many years, with the intention of preserving her recipes for her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, tending her herb garden, reading, and hosting gatherings for family and friends. She loved to dress up, dance, attend Broadway shows, and bring people together. She also enjoyed camping and took her children on many trips when they were young.

Janet loved her grandchildren and made every effort to visit them. She is survived by her grandchildren: Chloe, Charlie, and Owen (children of Walter Joseph Wolk), and Jackson, Cooper, Lily, and Wyatt (children of Thomas Raymond Wolk), along with extended family and loved ones.

Janet will be buried at St. James Cemetery in Manchester, Connecticut, on April 9, 2026, preceded by a funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
