Jay Michael Foley, 72, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away on September 26, 2026. Born in Newport on July 23, 1954, he was the son of the late John and Lillian Foley.

A graduate of De La Salle, Jay spent much of his life in Newport, where he proudly owned and operated Foley's Gas Station.

Jay was a man of many interests and talents, with a particular love for reading, history, and aviation. Those who watched Jeopardy! with him knew that Jay was usually the one who had all the answers. His curiosity, quick wit, and sense of humor were among the many qualities that made him such a memorable presence to those who knew him.

Jay's family and the relationships he treasured were an important part of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Foley; his son, Jason Foley; his longtime best friend, Leo "Skip" Tracy; and his goddaughter, Jessica Tracy.

Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Deb Foley; his son, Ryan Foley; and his parents, John and Lillian Foley.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Jay will be remembered for his warmth, humor, intelligence, and unwavering support for those he cared about. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
