Joan B. Almeida

Joan B. Almeida, age 80, of Middletown passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Almeida was born March 8, 1937, in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late Gilbert and the late Beulah (Slater) Lawrence. She was the wife of Jesse J. Almeida, Jr., who predeceased her in May of 2003.Mrs. Almeida worked for BAE Systems for over 30 years. In her spare time she was an avid reader, animal lover, gardener, and enjoyed feeding and watching the wild birds.She is survived by her two daughters, Jean McNeel of Great Meadows, NJ and Lisa Gouveia of Orlando, FL, and one son, Jesse J. Almeida, III of Middletown, RI, three sisters, Barbara Paiva of Middletown, RI, Lorraine Beal of Portsmouth, RI and Ann Marie DelToro of Barrington, RI, and one brother, Gil Lawrence of Portsmouth, RI. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Matt Bagley of Great Meadows, NJ, Jesse J. Almeida, IV of Portsmouth, RI, and Avery Almeida of Middletown, RI.Her funeral services will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
