Joan L. (Marren) Calcutt, age 82, of Newport died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Royal Middletown Nursing Center. Mrs. Calcutt was born September 7, 1934, in Newport, RI, to the late John F. and the late Alice (Weaver) Marren. She married Walter Calcutt, who predeceased her in 2009. Joan worked as a retail clerk at Grants Newburrys. She was also an avid Newport Historian, particularly of "The Point district. She had an extensive collection of old photos, cards and pamphlets.She is survived by her sister, Judith Garner of Charleston, SC, her brother, Dennis Marren and his wife Virginia of Portsmouth, RI, and many nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 10:00-11:00am, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
