Joan M. Kardel

Joan M. Kardel, 59, of Middletown died Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. Born on January 23, 1958 in Plainfield, NJ, she is the daughter of the late Edward and the late Rosemary (Cain) Kardel. Ms. Kardel worked for over thirty years at the Heatherwood Nursing Home in Newport. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and travelling. She is survived by her siblings, Susan Gustaitis of Wakefield, RI, Charlotte Greene of Vacaville, CA, Patricia Arroyo of Newport, RI, Elizabeth Nelson of Middletown, RI, and Michael Kardel of Levittown, PA and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Ronald Kardel. Funeral services are private. Memorial donations, in Joan's name may be made to the Special Olympics of RI, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917-1921.
