Johanna M. Nekrasz

Portsmouth, RI - Johanna Joan Marie Stachowski Nekrasz, 73, of Portsmouth, passed into Gods hands on January 6th in Newport Hospital after a valiant three year battle with cancer. Born in Hudson, PA, on January 22, 1935, Joan was the daughter of the late Leon and Veronica Tirpak Stachowski. She worked for various manufacturing companies near her hometown before marrying the love of her life, Frank, in 1956. Joan then spent her time raising four boys all over America while Frank was in the navy, with the family finally settling in Portsmouth in 1969. Joan was passionate about bingo and her beloved adopted home town team, the Boston Red Sox. Preceded in death by her brothers Raymond, Joseph and Leon Stachowski, and sisters Leona Stachowski, Josephine Rygielski, Mary Biscontini and Bernice Wasinda, she leaves her beloved husband of 53 years, Frank; sons Dr. Frank Nekrasz, Jr., and his wife Keri of Champaign, IL, Raymond and his wife Sarah of Portsmouth, Douglas and his wife Lisa of Littleton, MA, and Eric and his wife Karen of Lewisville, TX; seven grandchildren and one step-grandson; brother Edward Stachowski of Hudson, PA; and sisters Dorothy Bennick of Plains, PA and Barbara Bugdonovitch of Pringle, PA. Calling hours will be at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, on Friday, January 9th, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Connors Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10th, 11 a.m., followed by interment at Portsmouth Cemetery on Turnpike Avenue.
