John Atkins Kelly, Jr., 77, of Heatherwood Health Care Center Newport, formerly of 19 Chapel Street, Newport, And Bristol Road, Middletown, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center Newport, RI.. Born in Newport, RI on Jan. 5, 1925, he was the son of John A. Kelly Sr. and Marie Blacklock Kelly Sr.. Mr. Kelly had worked as the switchboard operator at the Newport City Hall for 46 and 1/2 years, retiring in 1996. He was also a Communicant of St. Josephs Church in Newport. He is survived by one sister Beatrice Hinson of Concord, North Carolina, one cousin Peter Kelly of Newport, RI Several Nieces and Nephews. His funeral will be held Friday, August 16, 2002 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, to be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery Brown?s Lane, Middletown.
