John "Bud" Ferreira

John "Bud" Ferreira, 71, of Portsmouth passed Friday, October 28, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital of Fall River, with his family by his side after a nine year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Suzanne (Matzko) Ferreira. Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of John Ferreira of Portsmouth and the late Aurora (Rogers) Ferreira. Bud was a 1964 graduate of Rogers High School. He went on to serve in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Bud worked as an independent electrician for several years and as well as for Raytheon. He was a member of the Sakonnet Sportsman and was proud of his vegetable garden.Besides his wife and father he leaves his children, John "Jesse" Ferreira and his wife Bridget of Damariscotta, ME, Seth Ferreira and his wife Bethany of Andover, KS and Jay "Julia" Ferreira of Portsmouth. Bud loved being grandfather to Allie, Finn, Alice and Vivian. He also leaves his sisters Judith Ferreira of Dania Beach, FL, and Cynthia L. Bauer of Elcohon, CA and his brother William R. Ferreira of Portsmouth. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
