John E. Ferreira

John E. Ferreira, 94, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2018, at John Clarke Nursing Home in Middletown surrounded by his family.

John was born on February 4, 1924 in Bristol, RI, to the late John E. Ferreira and the late Julia M. (Roderigues) Ferreira. John was the husband of the late Aurora E. (Rogers) Ferreira for 72 years.

John was a dairy and potato farmer in his early years. Later, he was employed at Raytheon and retired as Lieutenant Head of Security. He loved gardening and his generosity was well known by family and friends.

John is survived by his daughter, Judith A. Ferreira of Dania Beach, FL, William R. Ferreira of Portsmouth, and Cynthia L. Bauer of Lake Forest, CA. His is also survived by his siblings, Raymond Ferreira, Lydia Ferrell, Lorraine McBride and Edward Ferreira all of Portsmouth, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Bud Ferreira, and his siblings, Cecelia Price, Henry Ferreira, and Evelyn Rudisell.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.

His funeral will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018, at 10:00 AM, at Connors Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Portsmouth Cemetery, Turnpike Avenue, Portsmouth.
