Worcester, MA - John Beckman Lawton, III 69, of Bellingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 17, 2025.

He was born on Kindley Air Force Base on Saint David's Island in Bermuda, on November 5, 1955, John's passion would always be the ocean.

A graduate of Bellingham, MA High School; Class of 1973. John also attended North Adams State College and Harbor Branch Diving School in Florida.

Starting off as a diver, John would work his way up to become part owner, President and CEO of the Underwater Construction Corporation, an international marine diving company based in Essex, CT. Recently John worked at Allied Universal Security throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Upon his retirement, John dedicated his time to his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his daughters; Jillian B. Lawton-Machover and her husband Michael J. Machover of Locust Valley, NY and Jade B. Lawton, of West Hartford, CT. His mother Beverly J. (Beebe) Lawton of Bellingham, MA; his siblings; Jeffrey B. Lawton of Lewes, Delaware and Jennifer B. Lawton, of Baltimore, Maryland; his two Grandsons Miles J. Machover and Mason D. Machover, both of Locust Valley, NY.

John is preceded in death by his father, John Beckman Lawton Jr. who died in 2013.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Trinity Church, One Queen Anne Square, Newport, RI on Monday August 4th at 11 O'clock. A private burial will take place at the families request.
