He was married to his beloved wife Barbara Shea McGinty for 51 years. He was the devoted father to his daughter Kate (Steve) Donald, and son Ryan (Kate) McGinty and loving grandfather to Jack, Molly, Grace, Will, Maris, Matty, all of Madison,NJ. Jack leaves behind his Cleveland,Ohio family brothers Kevin(Nancy), Billy(Mary), and sisters Patty (Terry) Gliha, and Peggy (Joe) Gibbons, and 11 nieces and nephews.
Jack graduated with a BA from Ohio University and with an MPA from Cleveland State University. He was later Director of Welfare for Cuyahoga County. Leaving public service Jack then became an Executive Director of law firms in Oklahoma City, New Jersey and Cleveland.
Jack was an avid reader who considered a perfect weekend to be a thousand page book. He loved music, sang in the church choir and appreciated opera. He was a devoted Irishman who ran in the Dublin Marathon with his son Ryan and celebrated that by climbing the Irish Mountain Croagh Patrick. Though he was a lover of Big Macs, double chocolate sundaes and days at the beach, nothing meant more to Jack than being with his family. Memories of Jacks dry wit and humorous comments will remain with his friends and family for a lifetime.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of The Grand Islander for their constant care, compassion and concern for Jack. Many thanks to Kindred Hospice for the care they gave Jack.
