Newport, RI - Joseph Barry Hicks, 66, of 13 Rhode Island Avenue, Apt.2, Newport, died on Saturday August 1, 2009 at Newport HospitalHe was the companion of Rhoda Withers of Newport, RI. Born in Providence, RI on July 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Isabella F. Barrett Hicks,Mr. Hicks worked as a telemarketer in the fund raising industry. He was a former member of the Masons and he loved sailing. Besides his companion, he is survived by his son, Thomas Hicks of Cranston, RI; four sisters, Nancy Jones of Cumberland, RI and Maureen Hassett, Eleanor Maio and Isabella Votolato, all of Florida.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 9:30 am in St. Josephs Church, corner of Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport, RI.
