Joseph Jesse Silvia, 87, of Portsmouth died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Elizabeths Manor in Bristol, RI. Mr. Silvia was born December 12, 1929 in Portsmouth, RI. He is the son of the late Jesse and the late Emily (Nunes) Silvia. He was married to Elsie (Oliveira) Silvia, for 59 years. Mr. Silvia served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, RI, and a member of St. Barnabas Church. Mr. Silvia started working for Short Line Bus Company, which later became Bonanza bus lines, for over 38 years, retiring in 1991.He is survived by his wife: Elsie (Nunes) Silvia, and his sister: Emily Mathias of Bristol, RI and many nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be Monday, September 11, 2017 from 9:00am-10:30am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
