Joseph Monahan was born in 1944 to Edward and Hope Monahan. He was born and died in the family home in Bristol, Rhode Island where he provided loving care to his mother, "Hopie" until her passing.
After a life full of adventures and fun that included; childhood escapades, competitive sailing, hiking mountains and trails throughout New England, climbing the Grand Canyon twice, running marathons, attending concerts, playing competitive pool, traveling and boating throughout Narragansett and Mt. He had a career in purchasing and sales. He received many honors over his lifetime. He was most proud of being admitted to the 4000-Footer Club of the White Mountains of the Appalachian Mountain Club, where he climbed to the summits of 48 official peaks. These trips were often taken with family and friends and his beloved dogs, Thumper and Mohegan.
