Josephine Arruda Connors

Josephine Arruda Connors, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Newport Hospital in Newport.She was the wife of the late Alexander Connors.Born in East Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Souza Arruda.Mrs. Connors was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church in Portsmouth and a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and her friends.She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Connors-Hall and her husband, Alan of Portsmouth, RI; her son, Thomas A. Holt and his wife Tammy, of Somerset, MA; three sisters, Dolores Mayben of East Providence, RI, Elaine Russo of Bristol, RI, and Virginia Kane of Florida; her brother, Raymond Arruda of Florida and RI; a granddaughter, Amber Holt; and many nieces and nephews.She was pre-deceased by several brother and sisters.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI.Calling hours will be held Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 4-7 pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Rescue Wagon Fund, 2300 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871
