Joyce (Miller) Mottley, 78, of Middletown RI passed away on Christmas Day 2016 surrounded by her family.She is survived by her husband Sylvin Mottley of Middletown RI.Born February 27, 1938, in Bridge Town, Barbados, she was the daughter of the late Elmina Blackman and Reynold Grenwich.Besides her husband of 41 years, she is survived by her children, Wayne Mottley of Tiverton, RI and Michael Mottley of Middletown, RI. Two grandchildren Amanda King and Paige King of Tiverton RI and four great grandchildren, Isaac, Emily, Christopher and Jonalys also of Tiverton RI.Joyce came to the United States in 1973 to work for Mr. and Mrs. Manning in Cape Cod for over 35 years as a nurse's aide and also helped take care of the Manning's children as a nanny.After retiring she enjoyed collecting stamps, crossword puzzles, baking for others, making amazing chicken dish that everyone loved, watching soap operas and game shows. She had a strong belief in angels and gods faith.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 12-2pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, service to follow at 2 pm.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
