Julius Jesse Borges Jr

Julius Jesse Borges Jr, of 20 Sachuest Way, Middletown, RI passed away on Saturday, February 3rd 2018, at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. Julius was born on May 18, 1929 in Middletown, Rhode Island, to the late Grace (Froias) Borges and the late Julius J. Borges Sr. He was a resident of Middletown his entire life. Sixty-seven years ago, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Frances Sullivan. Kay and Julius remained happily married all his life. In addition to his wife, Kathryn Borges, he is survived by his sons, Julius Borges III of Groton, Ma and his wife Karen, William Borges and his wife Doranne of Portsmouth, RI Kevin Borges of Wakefield, RI, Paul Borges of Tiverton, RI, Richard Borges and his wife Robyn of Jamestown, RI. and daughter Kathleen Vieira and her husband Peter of Allen, Texas. He is also survived by siblings Dorothy Pennachi of Middletown, RI, Beatrice Cambra of Middletown and Manuel Borges of Westport, Mass and eleven grandchildren, Vanessa, Julius Jesse IV, Alexandra, Rachelle, Matthew, Amanda, Ryan, Ali, Audrey, Maxwell and Kathryn and five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Julius grew up working on his fathers farm, J. J. Borges Sons. He worked 37 years for the First National Store. He also worked at Fleet Bank. But, no matter where else he worked, he continued working on his familys farm, it was in his blood. Julius' greatest passion was his family and in later years spending time with his grandchildren. He also had a love of classic cars, which he restored with his sons.Calling hours will be Thursday, February 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, Rhode Island, 02840. Funeral will take place on Friday, February 9 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 5 Mann Ave, Newport, Rhode Island, 02840. The burial will be at St Columba's Catholic Cemetery, 465 Brown's Ln, Middletown. Julius was a lifelong parishioner of Jesus Saviour Church. His family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Jesus Saviour Church, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.
