Katherine M. (Morrissey) Williams, "Kitty", age 88, of Kay Boulevard, Newport RI died Friday, July 22, 2016, at Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown, RI. Kitty was born September 16, 1927, in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Walter E. and the late Marion (OBrien) Morrissey. She was the wife of the late Lt. Gerald F. Williams. Kitty lived through the great Depression and the Cuban Missile Crisis, and is also a cancer survivor. Kitty was a hard worker who once worked as a secretary at the Naval War College, also at the Newport Daily News in the classified department, a Teachers Aide for the Newport School Department and worked and retired after 10 years as a Records Clerk at the Newport Police Department. Kitty had many activities and hobbies in her lifetime. She was an active member and once President of the Mosaic Club, and also helped out with their rolling library cart at the Newport Hospital. She was a member of St Josephs Church and the Altar Society. She was also active at the Middletown Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo, bridge and cribbage with her friends. She also played in bowling leagues and bocce leagues throughout the years. She also enjoyed music, dancing and watching cooking shows and Full House. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.She is survived by her three children Steven Williams and his wife Janet of Bristol, RI, David Williams and his wife Mary of The Villages, FL, Nancy Tierno and her husband Joe of Middletown, RI, one sister, Marion (Sally) Cavalieri of Folsom, CA, seven grandchildren, Eric Williams, Sophie Williams, Andrew Williams, Jennifer Pimental, Justin Tierno, Jared Tierno, and Stephanie Tierno, and one great granddaughter, Isabel Tierno.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, from 4-8 pm at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.
