Kenneth Byam, 88, of Middletown, passed away peacefully. He was born on January 3, 1938, in Melrose, Massachusetts, to the late Almond and Mildred Byam.

Kenneth served in the United States Air Force for four years. After his service, he worked at Continental Can Company for 20 years before becoming a business owner. In 1987, he opened the first Subway in Bristol and went on to own Subway restaurants for over 35 years.

Kenneth was married to Jayne (Buckley) Byam for over 50 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Byam, Laura Byam, and Amanda Byam, and his grandchildren: Maddie Pirri (Christina Pirri), Jacob Scaff (Devon Scaff), Aidan Asher, Bella Scaff, Blair Borgeson, Ty Butler, and Caydon Butler. His granddaughter, Sadie Asher, passed before him.

Kenneth enjoyed golfing, traveling to Aruba each year where he loved the sunshine, and spending time with friends. He was also a longtime fan of the Boston Red Sox and held season tickets for over 30 years.

Kenneth will be remembered for his years of service, his role as a business owner, and the life he lived. He is now reunited with his wife.
