Kenneth A Wendt, 81, of Newport, Rhode Island, died on October 9, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Russell and Dorothy (Charwinsky) Wendt.
Kenneth was a Veteran of the US Air Force and went on to a long career in house painting, working in Bristol, Little Compton, and other surrounding towns. His painting abilities made him a sought out individual in the local industry.
Love of the ocean and nature kept him close to Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth, Island Park and Little Compton's beautiful coastline.
Photography was his life long passion, especially black and white. Kenneth never traveled anywhere without his camera. He was known for his silver hair, pony tail, and bandana. Kenneth ran the Teen Cafe in Little Compton where he gave teens a place to gather and have a great time. He was loved by many because of his position there. Kenneth also taught photography to kids at summer college courses in Fall River.
Kenneth is survived by his son Nathan Wendt of Brockport, NY, and a sister, Lorraine Papineau of Portsmouth, RI, grandchildren Tyler Copeland and Alexander Wendt; and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Wendt.
Funeral services will be private.
