It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Rebello, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 16, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on October 27, 1942, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to the late Lawrence and Henrietta Rebello, Lawrence found his way to Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where he built a life filled with love, memories, and lasting friendships.
Lawrence proudly served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile crisis. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and deeply valued the camaraderie and spirit of community. After his service, he pursued a career as a manager at the Green Valley Country Club in the clubhouse, becoming a familiar face to many. He also enjoyed his time as an orange cab driver, where he engaged with the public and made countless connections throughout the years.
Loved ones remember Lawrence as a devoted family man. He is survived by his son, Robert L. Rebello, his cherished granddaughter, Amanda L. Rebello, and grandsons Nickolas Rebello-Lopes and Robert L Rebello Jr. Lawrence loved his great-grandchildren, Jade, Kairiann, Kailyn and Claire. He was the father of the late Barbara Rebello.
An avid sports fan, Lawrence had a particular love for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, often sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. He also loved watching golf and the Kentucky Derby.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Lawrence at a Cemetery Committal Service at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery on May 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. His spirit will continue to touch the lives of those who knew him.
The Rebello family invites all who knew and loved Lawrence to join them in celebrating a life well-lived and a man who embodied kindness and generosity at The Green Valley Country club at 371 Union Street, Portsmouth RI 02871 on May 29 at 2:00 p.m.
Lawrence Rebello will be missed deeply but will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. His playful spirit, gentle humor, and commitment to those around him will leave an enduring legacy.
