Leon Chester Lesinski

December 1, 1935 — January 21, 2026

Leon Chester Lesinski "Lee", 90, of Portsmouth, RI passed away on January 21, 2026.

Lee was born on December 1, 1935, in Hartford, CT to Chester and Mary Lesinski. Lee was introduced to Alana Lewandos in Hartford, CT and the couple married on April 4, 1959, at St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hartford, CT.

Lee attended the University of Connecticut and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Electrical Engineering. He subsequently worked for Electric Boat and GTE. Lee held several patents for his incredible ingenuity while developing technologies for submarines. His biggest achievement was the creation of a workable electrical magnetic pulse resistor for the U.S. military.

Leon and Alana moved to Walpole, MA with an infant son and proceeded to make a home and family adding a second son. This was base of operations for the entire Lesinski/Lewandos clan for over 40 years. They were active in the community and hosted family and friends on the holidays throughout the year.

Looking for additional academic growth, Lee attended Suffolk Law and graduated with a Juris Doctorate and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar on December 16, 1977. Lee practiced law in Walpole, MA for John Simeone until he retired.

Lee and Alana moved to Portsmouth, RI in 2010 to live out their retirement years near the ocean and their beloved lifelong friends, Ed and Leonore Rizy of Middletown, RI. Thousands of bridge games were played throughout the years. Lee and Alana traveled extensively with friends, John and Bertha Jacobs of Simsbury, CT and James and Barbara Budwey of Medfield, MA.

Both Lee and Alana were active in the church as lay persons and scripture readers at St. Timothy's in Norwood, MA and St. Barnabas in Portsmouth.

Although retirement was joyous, Lee needed to keep his idle mind busy and commenced employment with the City of Portsmouth as an administrative officer for the Portsmouth Planning Board from which he just recently retired from in 2024.

Lee, the oldest of three children was known as " Leo" to his surviving brother, Chester "Chet" Lesinski and his wife Risa Miller of South Glastonbury, CT.

Lee is survived by his two sons; Craig Lesinski with his wife Kathleen of Plainville, MA; Erik Lesinski with his wife Amanda of Corpus Christi, TX; and special daughter-in-law Jan Marie Nuzzolo (mother to Thomas) of Walpole, MA. Known to his grandchildren as "Boss" he is survived by Evan Lesinski his wife Cindi-Ann Calabro; Andrea Geggis her husband Steven Geggis; Thomas, Elisabeth, Michael and Emily Lesinski; and his nephews, Brian Lesinski and Scott Lesinski and families.

Lee is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alana, of 60 years, his parents, and his brother, Bill Lesinski, and his nephew Billy Lesinski.

Funeral arrangements are pending and interment will be private.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mike Viera who provided Leon with friendship and camaraderie.
