Leonard A Parker, 95, of Portsmouth died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at home in Portsmouth. Mr. Parker was born January 31, 1922 in Mobile, AL. He is the son of the late Irving and the late Josephine (Tipps) Parker. He was married to his loving wife, Minnie Francisco for 57 years. Leonard was a very handy man, and loved tinkering with things. He loved hunting, fishing and loved the outdoors. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed it, expecting nothing in return. He loved to read, and loved a good conversation. He served in the US Navy for 30 years, during WWII and Korea, serving aboard various Destroyers and Cruisers He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and Handyman and Woodworkers club, and a member of the American Legion. Leonard loved to cook, and was well known for his culinary prowess in the kitchen He was a man of many talents and, and will be missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his loving wife Minnie (Francisco) Parker, and also several nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Friday December 22, 2017 from 4-8pm in Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road in Portsmouth, RI.His funeral will be held on Saturday December 23, 2017 beginning at 9 am from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Anthony's Church 2836 East Main Road in Portsmouth.
